Technological solutions developer Smartmatic is to provide new technologies for improving the electoral register of the Republic of Zambia, the company said on Sunday.

Smartmatic is to supply to Zambia with 1,000 mobile electronic biometric registry units, known as PARkits, as well as training services, technical assistance and a one-year warranty.

The contract was awarded by the United Nations Development Programme, the UN's global development network. Financial details were not disclosed.
