Small wonder Haydn makes a big impression.

HE REGULARLY stands in the shadows of giants and now a Swansea basketball referee has become the first ever Welshman to officiate at the prestigious EuroBasket Championships.

Haydn Jones, of Ynysforgan, travelled to Poland to referee the EuroBasket women's competition after receiving the nomination from FIBA Europe - a zone within the International Basketball Federation which includes all 49 national European basketball federations.

Haydn, who's 5'10", regularly has to keep in line players who stand around seven foot tall or even bigger.

Haydn said: "I've immensely enjoyed my time as a basketball referee but this has been the highlight so far. It was a real honour to have been selected."
