Slow and steady wins the race.

Byline: M I H KHAN -Lahore

Most of us in school days must have learnt that slow and steady wins the race and those treading fast somewhat blindly tumble down here and there. Prime Minister Imran Khan has been inducted in the office for constitutional tenure of five years and as such there is hardly need for rushing through the matters in hurry and then cutting a sorry figure. Those making slow and steady moves are bound to succeed in due course while others trying to go past fast tumble down sooner than expected.

Pakistan is inhabited by majority of Muslims but there are also non-Muslims like Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Ahmadis. Ahmadis were declared non-Muslims by Parliament during Bhutto regime. But they are very much Pakistanis like others non-Muslims are. There is no bar on the non-Muslims residing within geographical limits of Pakistan on attaining any high office except that of the President of the country as per the 1973 Constitution.

The new ruling party PTI federal government had cut a very sorry figure when it constituted an Economic Advisory Council in a rather very hurried manner without going into all aspects of the members who were named so in the first stance. No doubt, in view of the prevailing economic situation of the country there was dire need for having such an advisory body . But at the same time there was no need to move onwards blindly in a hurried manner. Resignation or forcing a non-Muslim member of the Advisory Council to quit within couple of days has created unpleasant fuss which could have been avoided easily.

The worthy Prime Minister, his Ministers and Advisors are sincerely and humbly advised to better go slow and steady and they are bound to be victorious in the end with the continued blessings of Almighty Allah.
