Slovenia : Promotion of the rule of law and democracy through the comic book edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia.

the Minister of Justice Andreja Katic, together with the Constitutional Judge, prof. dr. Matej Accett, at the beginning of the school year, presented to the seventh grade students a printed edition of the Constitution in comics. Minister Kati? and Constitutional Judge Accetto shared the Constitution in the comics, thus spreading the spirit of constitutional democracy among the youngest, at the Preihov Voranc Primary School in Ljubljana.

The Constitution in Comics is a joint project of the National Assembly and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia on the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia. In the first printed version of the Constitution in the comics, in October 2017, 4,500 copies were printed in the Slovene language. Due to high demand from schools and libraries, we decided to reprint the Constitution in comics and translate it into English, Hungarian and Italian. In the first week of September, the distribution of the Constitution in the comics will be progressively distributed to all elementary schools in Slovenia, for the 7th grade students as an incentive for a more interesting and easier understanding of the subject Citizenship and Homeland Education and Ethics.

At the event, Minister Kati? emphasized: It is a device for raising awareness of democracy and the rule of law. I believe that they will be happy to read the constitution in a slightly different way, imprint it in their memory and then act in accordance with the provisions of the constitution themselves in their further life."

The constitution in comics is funded in part by the European Union, the European Social Fund, through Operation Effective Justice. Operation Effective Justice is implemented under the Operational Program for the Implementation of European Cohesion Policy in the period 2014-2020.

Minister Katic will also hand over the Constitution in comics to the seven students of elementary school Salek in Velenje tomorrow, September 3rd at 9.30. Kindly welcome to this event too!
