Slight fall in passenger numbers at Frankfurt Airport.


German airport operator Fraport (DAX:FRA) has announced a slight decrease in the number of passengers using Frankfurt Airport in April this year.

The airport handled 4,372,153 passengers, a decline of 0.3% compared to April 2006. In the January to April period the airport registered 16,198,251 passengers, up 3.8% year-on-year.

During April European traffic to and from Frankfurt Airport increased by 0.3%, with a 7.5% rise in East European traffic. Traffic to and from the US was up 3.2% and there was a growth of 5.7% on Asian routes, led by China (up 15.6%) and India (up 11.9%). In addition traffic on routes to and from Dubai increased by 16.9% compared to April last year.

The amount of airfreight handled by Frankfurt Airport declined by 2.7% year-on-year to 171,731 metric tons.

The airport recorded 40,128 takeoffs and landings in April 2007, an increase of 0.1% from April 2006.
