Skopje citizens have the highest salaries in Macedonia.

The average monthly net wage paid per employee in 2016 was 102.0 compared to 2015. This increase is a result of the increased average monthly net wage paid per employee in: Polosko region (4.2%), in Southeastern region (3.3%) and in Eastern region (2.6%).

According to the most recent data on regions in Macedonia, published by the State Statistical Office, the highest average monthly net wage paid per employee in 2016, compared to the total average in the Republic of Macedonia, was registered in Skopje region (17.5%) and the lowest average of monthly net wage paid per employee in 2016, compared to the total average in the Republic of Macedonia, was registered in the Eastern region (25.3%).
