Ski champ's killer jailed.

THE drunk driver who killed Scots ski champion Craig Macfie in the US has been jailed for three years.

Craig, 24,was cycling back to his student flat in Eugene, Oregon, at 2.26am on November 18 last year when Patrick Compton, 22, lost control of his 4x4 and hit him from behind.

He suffered a brain injury and died next day.

Student Compton admitted negligent homicide. He was banned from driving for life.

Craig, a star of the British Alpine Ski Team, was studying at the University of Oregon. His parents Rosie and Andy told the court his death had left them "incomplete, numb and empty".
