Skelly confirms album release; sound bites ? POP GOSSIP WITH ALAN POOLE.

JAMES Skelly & The Intenders, the new venture from the former Coral front man, have confirmed that debut album Love Undercover will be released on Skeleton Key Records on June 3 followed by a short tour that will take in Birmingham's Institute Temple Room on Tuesday, June 11.

Skelly started work on the album following the release of the last Coral collection, 2010's Butterfly House, holing up in Wirral with a collection of mates from Coral, Sundowners and Tramp Attack. They opted for a live feel, most of the 11 tracks recorded in one or two takes, Skelly explaining: "The Coral stuff was all a bit more abstract I guess - These songs are really direct, straight to the point."

Tickets for the Birmingham show go on sale at 9am today, PS10.50 from www.gigsandtours.
