Skanska AB (STO: SKAB) announced on Friday that Skanska Norway has signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Road Authority (NPRA) to build a tunnel on E69 in Finnmark county, Norway.

This contract, worth about SEK640m, will be included by the company in the Nordic order bookings for the first quarter 2019.

According to Skanska, the project includes the 3.5 kilometre long Skarvberg tunnel and an additional 3.8 kilometres of new road. The project aims to secure the highly exposed road section of the E69 towards Nordkapp against avalanches. Also, in addition to the new tunnel, Skanska will build two major avalanche embankments to secure the road.

Construction is expected to start in April 2019 and the new tunnel will open by the autumn of 2021.

Skanska is a leading construction and project development company, focused on selected home markets in the Nordic region, Europe and US.
