A LOYAL member of the Pennine Singers has retired after 27 years.

Margaret Green has retired from her position of accompanist.

She is an Associate of the London College of Music and in 1988 she was awarded an Honorary Diploma for her contribution to the college.

She is well known as a piano tutor to children and became the organist at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at Sheepridge at the age of 14 - a position she still holds 60 years later.

She has been succeeded as accompanist by Suzanne Smelt.

Choir president, Granville Sutton, presented Mrs Green with an inscribed crystal fruit bowl to mark her retirement.
