Singer in women-only charity trek.
GATESHEAD-BORN pop star Michelle Heaton put on her walking boots for a gruelling charity trek across Morocco.
The 35-year-old former Liberty X star took part in the Women for Women Trek to support the Genesis Research Trust, which researches health conditions which affect women and babies.
And even though it was a hard slog in hot sun, Michelle said she had an "amazing time" on the trek.
"It's been very difficult, but so worth every step!" said the Gateshead-born singer. "As soon as I was asked to join this amazing group of women and learned about the essential work the trust does, I just couldn't say no!
"I think that it has left us all feeling empowered and even stronger." The mum-of-two has been walking in the breath-taking High Atlas Mountains and the Valley of Roses, where she battled through blazing heat during the women-only challenge.
On the way, she discovered beautiful villages, Berber hospitality, magnificent historic Kasbahs and a world heritage protected UNESCO site.
In the evenings, Michelle recovered from a hard day's trekking by sharing dinners and sleeping under the spectacular desert skies.
The trek started on May 15 and came to an end on Saturday.
