Singer Wins Multiple 2006 ''Power of the People'' Awards; Singer Sweeps Prestigious Best Brand, Best Consumer Durable Brand and Teen Brand-of-the-Year Awards in Competition with Leading Global Companies.

LAVERGNE, Tenn. -- Singer(R), a global leader in the sewing machine and accessories industry, has announced that Singer brand consumer durables including sewing machines have been recognized as the "Best Brand," the "Best Consumer Durable Brand," and the "Teen Brand-of-the-Year" by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing in conjunction with AC Nielsen -- the world's largest market research company. Other leading companies considered for the awards included Coca-Cola, LG, Dialog, Sri Lanka Telecom, LUX, Panasonic and Sony. Singer sewing machines and accessories are sold in Sri Lanka by Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd.(R) -- its independent retail outlet for the brand.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Management and AC Nielsen interviewed approximately 5,000 consumers countrywide to determine the winners in each category. These awards come on the heels of another prestigious award for Singer(R) -- "Number 1 Power Brand of the Year" presented recently to Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd.(R) by Brand Finance International.

"We are proud of the tireless and devoted efforts of our colleagues at Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd.(R)," said Brad Hunsaker, Global Vice President of Sales & Marketing for SVP Worldwide(R), Singer's parent company. "This is an extraordinary achievement to win so many significant awards in the same year. It is especially rewarding for Singer(R) to be recognized by the youth of Sri Lanka as the 'Teen Brand-of-the-Year.' The teenage audience is a very important segment of the consumer population and especially important to Singer(R)."

"These awards signal another great year for Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd.(R)," said Asita Abayasekera, Director of Marketing. "They give credit to a great product line and to all of our team working at Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd.(R) -- those in the field, the factories, the Service Center and the Marketing Office. This was a team effort and all deserve a thank you."

"Over the years, we have always taken pride in the relationships and trust we have built with consumers," said Kumar Samarasinghe, Marketing Manager. "Customer relationships are important to us and combined with wonderful Singer(R) products, we have been recognized by our greatest supporters -- consumers."
