Sinead's new home; HOUSE OF HORRORS.
SINEAD O'Connor's posh new family home was the scene of a grisly murder. The singer has bought the stunning seaside home in Bray for more than EUR1.7million. But teenager Gillian Bishop was brutally killed on her way home from a disco on Halloween night 1991.
The pretty 19-year-old was severely beaten and a pound coin was forced down her throat to stop her screaming.
Killer Michael Dean McLoughlin - who had just met Gillian that evening - dumped her naked body in the yard at the back of the house.
He claimed he had lashed out at Gillian after she had called him a "queer" - but had not intended to kill her. Gillian's father Ciaran said his daughter had been a popular fun loving teenager.
He said : "She was a good kid. There was no baggage coming anywhere. She was everybody's child. That's why people were affected by it.
"She wasn't taking drugs. She wasn't drinking.
"She was just your average little kid just going about life innocently and somebody took her away."
A neighbour said: "Montebello House is a very beautiful property but it does have a dark history.
"It was a horrific, senseless murder - and people still connect the house with the crime."
Mother-of-four Sinead has been living in a rented house in De Vesci Terrace in Monkstown, Co Dublin, for the past two years.
The singer sold her bungalow at Castlepark in Monkstown for more than EUR1.25million in 2005.
She decided to buy a new house in Bray after having her new baby Yeshua.
Sinead and her partner Frank Bonadio, a US businessman, are hoping to move into the house in the next two months.
The short-haired singer got together with Bonadio last year.
Last month, the house was put up for auction with a starting price of EUR1.65million by estate agents HJ Byrne.
But it was withdrawn after the estate agents agreed a higher price with Sinead.
The estate agents' blurb said: "Montebello is a very impressive substantial residence which, when built in the 1860s, was a fashionable seaside villa."
The luxury home has six bedrooms - two en suite - a sunroom and a gym.
