LAST week's revelation that Coventry had chosen exactly the same date as Warwick to stage a half-marathon has left both organisers red-faced.
The clash has triggered unnecessary competition for runners from towns roughly 13 miles apart because neither checked with the other.

The two sides should run into each other at Abbey Fields where a traditional game of British Bulldog would sort out who continues.
The race, Three Castles and a Battle, could be a face-saver for both sides. Coventry Council cancelled this year's run to avoid fixture congestion with rivals, only to pick the same date as Warwick's run, March 23, 2014.
They made the decision in May and say at that time there were no other local races scheduled.
The British Heart Foundation, organisers of the Warwick half-marathon, have been in touch to say they first met in March to discuss the 2014 date and also finalised it in May.
"No issues were raised during this process around the viability of this date," a spokesman said, adding that the event was publicised in July and that "...we'll work with the authorities to ensure that the same thing doesn't happen next year."
