Waterbury Hospital Newest Healthcare Facility
to Select SilverBack's Software-Based InfoCare Solution
for Fast, Easy and Affordable IT Monitoring
SilverBack Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator in IT monitoring software, today announced that Waterbury Hospital, a mid-sized community hospital, has recently implemented SilverBack's InfoCare to meet their critical IT monitoring and network administration needs. Located in Waterbury, Connecticut, Waterbury Hospital annually cares for upwards of 14,500 inpatients, handles more than 50,000 emergency department visits, and treats more than 80,000 people on an outpatient basis. Waterbury also serves as the primary hospital for 255,000 area residents. Waterbury's IT staff oversees the hospital's entire IT environment including a large number of high-end servers and applications that are critical in supporting the patient load and the healthcare professionals that strive to diagnose patient conditions. Waterbury joins the large number of healthcare facilities to deploy SilverBack's InfoCare, including HFMA and Cottage Hospital.
"We needed a way to address complaints of slow computer-access in real-time," said Jim Olson, CIO at Waterbury Hospital. "Isolating the root cause of delays was our number one priority. We also wanted to proactively identify problems so that we could demonstrate to our medical staff that we're on top of developing situations. This reduces the amount of real-time problems and shows them that we're just as dedicated to helping patients as they are."
To ensure the reliability and availability of all the hospital's diverse critical networks, systems and applications, Waterbury Hospital turned to SilverBack's InfoCare. A fully integrated, software-based solution, InfoCare enables organizations such as Waterbury Hospital to monitor the availability, performance and security of their networks, systems and applications across multiple locations and departments, in both historic and real-time. Compared to the proposed upgrade costs of a leading network management solution that Waterbury was already using, InfoCare has delivered a 25 percent cost savings out-of-the-box.
InfoCare also allows Waterbury's IT staff to group devices and applications by department, enabling them to set thresholds, pre-empting performance and availability issues on the devices that perform the most critical health care services. Olson added, "InfoCare also helps us to optimize the availability and response time of access to online patient records. This further improves our ability to service a key customer for us internally, our doctors."
"Healthcare facilities including hospitals and clinics wrestle with similar IT issues -- how to do more with less," said Dan Phillips, Chairman and CEO of SilverBack. "One way that customers such as Waterbury Hospital are lowering their IT infrastructure costs is to use SilverBack's comprehensive IT monitoring and security solution to more efficiently allocate resources. InfoCare is up to 60 percent less expensive than traditional enterprise framework systems, but immediate cost savings aside, Waterbury Hospital selected InfoCare for its ability to provide integrated management capabilities across multiple areas of their IT environment. With InfoCare, Waterbury's IT staff spends less time chasing down IT problems and more time focusing on pre-empting future problems from arising."
As an innovator in IT monitoring software, SilverBack delivers to service providers and mid-tier organizations, a comprehensive network, system and application monitoring solution that is more affordable, faster-to-deploy and easier-to-use than traditional complex enterprise systems. Critical performance, availability and security information is delivered through a Web-based Dashboard and is maintained remotely by SilverBack. SilverBack's InfoCare costs less than $1/day/device and installs in a day.
