The Silicon Valley Leadership Group will hold a press conference Dec. 19 to announce a comprehensive plan to encourage Silicon Valley employers and workers to engage in greenhouse gas reduction efforts.

The plan includes "11 pillars" that the group hopes will promote new thinking and business level initiatives around ridesharing, fuel efficiency, better leverage of public transportation and some competitive events "to bring out the best of Silicon Valley."

Attendees will include Godfrey Sullivan, president and CEO of Hyperion Solutions; Len Kwiatkowski, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Space Systems; Tom McCalmont, president and CEO of ReGrid Power; and Tom Bottorff, senior vice president of customer service for PG&E.

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group, founded in 1978 by David Packard of Hewlett-Packard, represents more than 200 of Silicon Valley's employers on issues, programs and campaigns that affect the economic health and quality of life in Silicon Valley, including energy, transportation, education, housing, health care, tax policies, economic vitality and the environment.
