Scope of Work:

To Establish a Plant for Silica Production in Suez, Egypt.


The plant, to be established on an area of 100,000 square meters, will be located at Sinai Peninsula, which is rich in raw material silica glass sand.

The plant%s first stage would cost around USD 52 million, while the subsequent stages will cost more than USD 156 million.

The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group has filed the technical and financial studies and is awaiting approvals from the Egyptian Industrial Development Authority. It is also awaiting approvals from the General Authority for Investment to start procedures for company incorporation and the Ministry of Housing to get industrial land allocation for the project.

Work on the project will start immediately after the aforementioned approvals are granted and the Ministry of Petroleum and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) agree to provide the requested amount of natural gas required for operation.

If the approvals are granted by July-September 2014 (before the end of the first quarter of the fiscal year), the company plans to start production by the beginning of 2016.

The expected annual production capacity will be 41,000 tons of silica sediments and 30,000 tons of sodium sulfate in the first stage.

However, it will be tripled or quadrupled in the next few years (about 150,000 ton of silica sediments and 120,000 tons of sodium sulfate) to meet the needs of the domestic and international market, which will be 20 percent and 80 percent, respectively.
