Signed Harry Potter sells for pounds 3,200.

A 14-YEAR-OLD Harry Potter fan was left spellbound after a signed first edition of the wizard adventure fetched pounds 3,200 at auction.

Matthew Lawson sold his prized copy of Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets to help fund his future university education.

The book was originally bought for pounds 10.99 by his aunt five years ago.

It had been valued at pounds 1,500 by auctioneers Lyon and Turnbull.

Matthew, from Fife, said: "I can't believe how much the book made. I am absolutely thrilled.

"I am going to buy my aunt a present with some of the money because she gave me the book as a present."

The book, signed by JK Rowling, was bought by an Edinburgh businessman for his two children.

A first edition copy of The Lord of the Rings went for pounds 1,600 at the auction in Edinburgh.
