Sight at the museum; Racer Martin is the guest star at major Grampian gathering.

THE larger-than-life character that is Guy Martin will be at the Grampian Transport Museum in Aberdeenshire tomorrow.

The highly successful racer is the guest star at the annual Grampian Motorcycle Convention.

If you've never been before, it's a real biker event.

Complete with its own mini race circuit and housing a huge museum of transport from yesteryear, the convention attracts clubs such as the Harley Owners Group, Bon-Accord MC, Yamaha Owners Club and a host of classic bike clubs.

There are trade stands, manufacturers with demo bikes and some stunning race action from the trials riders and enduro bikes, and even a ladies' race for mopeds.

Last year, almost 5000 people attended the show. And both hotels and B&B houses have already reported record bookings for this weekend.

There's ample parking, free for both cars and bikes. Entry for adults is just pounds 10 and remember that also gets you into the extensive museum.

It's pounds 5 for kids, pounds 25 for a family ticket and pounds 7 for concessions.

Alford, where the action is taking place, is 26 miles west of Aberdeen on the A944 and it's a stunning little village with some great eateries, pubs and shops.
