Sierra Systems Creating Risk Management System for LAPD.
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 2003
Sierra Systems Group Inc. (TSX:SSG), one of North America's leading business consulting and systems integration firms, has been awarded a contract by the City of Los Angeles to create the Risk Management Information System and Use of Force System for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The contract is estimated in excess of US$12 million with current contracted services revenue of $9 million to be delivered over two years, commencing immediately. This continues Sierra Systems'18 year track record of providing advanced information technology solutions to the California Justice and Public Safety community.
The City of Los Angeles has entered into a Consent Decree with the United States Department of Justice that requires the City to develop a Training, Evaluation and Management System (TEAMS II) for the Los Angeles Police Department. The design, development and implementation of the Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and the Use of Force System (UOFS) are cornerstones of the TEAMS II Development Program effort.
"Successful implementation of the Consent Decree is vital to the LAPD and the citizens of the City of Los Angeles. We selected Sierra Systems to develop these systems because of the innovative approach proposed, as well as the company's experienced staff and methods," stated Deputy Chief David Doan, LAPD.
The RMIS application will draw data from over twelve LAPD operational systems and provide sophisticated tools for the analysis of resulting aggregated data. The system will identify potential at-risk behavior and promote best policing practices by triggering appropriate early intervention activities and notifications. The UOFS will use advanced workflow technology to replace the current paper process for tracking all occurrences of officer uses of force.
