Siemens Pyramid partners with Pilot Software to provide telecommunications computing solutions.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 1997--

Leading Decision Support Software Supplier Expands into

the Telecommunications Market with Premier

UNIX-based Solutions Provider

Pilot(r) Software, Inc., a global supplier of decision support software, today announced its partnership with Siemens Pyramid Information Systems, Inc., a leading provider of highly scalable, open enterprise computing solutions, to deliver Pilot Software's complete line of decision support tools to Siemens Pyramid's(r) extensive base of telecommunications customers throughout North America.

Under this agreement, Siemens Pyramid will distribute the Pilot Decision Support Suite(tm) as a commercial UNIX-based software solution primarily for its telecommunications segment with plans to expand into the banking/finance and retail markets in North America. Siemens Pyramid will leverage Pilot Software's strengths in the decision support market by offering its customers data analysis tools that address issues unique to the telecommunications market such as customer churn, customer profitability and new customer prospecting.

Included as part of the agreement is the integration of Siemens Pyramid's Reliant RM1000(r) Cluster Server and Pilot Software's Analysis Server, a multi-user on-line analytical processing (OLAP) tool with unique support for time-based analysis and dynamic dimensions. The integration will enable customers to access Pilot Software's powerful data sources in Analysis Server by employing Siemens Pyramid's platform to query and analyze large amounts of corporate data more quickly.

"We feel confident that Pilot Software and Siemens Pyramid will provide a competitive edge by using decision support technology to offer turnkey solutions for the wireless and traditional telecommunications business," said Art Schembri, managing principal of global marketing telecommunications at Siemens Pyramid. "Knowing the quality and compatibility of their products, Pilot Software is an obvious choice to meet the needs of our customer base. Pilot Software is clearly the kind of company that has the resources and global presence to work with some of our biggest clients."

"Delivering Pilot Software's decision support technology to the telecommunications division of Siemens Pyramid only extends Pilot Software's emphasis on providing vertical market applications," explains Hans Amell, Pilot Software's president and chief executive officer. "By combining Siemens Pyramid's strengths in the UNIX server market and Pilot's analytical processing abilities, we can now offer our complete line of software to serve on more platforms, which gives our customers easier solutions."
