De Jong is set for a season-long loan deal with the Dutch side following two years of injury hell on Tyneside.
However, he got through a medical in Holland with no problems and will now work on fitness before getting much-needed game-time under his belt.
De Jong will also link up with his brother and former United striker Luuk De Jong.

"For PSV it is good to have a lot of competition.
"We are entering a tough season and need options.
"Once before we had the chance to play together.
"Then Siem went to Newcastle, I could have stayed there, but I chose to go to PSV.
"It's great that we can play together now anyway."
