US chat-show host Oprah Winfrey has chosen actor Sidney Poitier's autobiography entitled The Measure of a Man for her new book club selection.

The book, which was published by HarperCollins imprint Harper SanFrancisco in 2000, is reportedly the first selected by Winfrey since the controversy that followed the selection of James Frey's memoir a year ago.

According to The Associated Press, the selection of Poitier's book was announced on Friday (26 January) on Winfrey's TV talk show.
