WARWICKSHIRE will play Shropshire in a Twenty20 friendly match at Bridgnorth on Wednesday May 21 (5.30pm start), two days before they meet Yorkshire at Edgbaston in their first match of the NatWest T20 Blast.

"We are very grateful to Shropshire for giving us the opportunity to play a competitive Twenty20 fixture in front of a good crowd before our game against Yorkshire," said Bears' director of cricket Dougie Brown.

"We will certainly field a strong team to ensure we are ready for the challenges of this new-look tournament."

Shropshire are hoping the match will attract a bumper crowd with admission prices having been pegged down to just PS5. "It will be a very exciting evening," said Shropshire chairman Toby Shaw.

"The match will be two days before the Bears' opening T20 game against Yorkshire and it's a great coup for us. The game will be an important part of the preparations for both sides.

"It will be a really good event at Bridgnorth, which is a lovely venue not too far from Birmingham."
