Showman is the Greatest selling album.

Byline: CRAIG SIMPSON

THE soundtrack to the hit film The Greatest Showman was the world's best-selling album in 2018, industry figures show.

The musical, starring Hugh Jackman, outsold both Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry said. The soundtrack topped the UK charts for 24 consecutive weeks and also hit No.1 in the US, Australia and Japan.

IFPI boss Frances Moore said: "Alongside the movie itself, we have seen the soundtrack truly embraced on a global scale."

South Korean boy band BTS had the second and third best-selling records, Answer and Tear, with Lady Gaga's A Star Is Born in fourth and Ed Sheeran in sixth with Division.
