Showbiz bid to halt lorries fails.

SHOWBIZ neighbours Sir Paul McCartney, DJ Fatboy Slim and his wife Zoe Ball have failed in their bid to block plans for a factory close to their beachfront homes.

The stars, along with fellow celebrity Heartbeat actor Nick Berry, had teamed up to voice their opposition to the proposed peat processing plant, claiming it would create noise, dust and bad smells at their pounds 1million homes on Western Esplanade near Shoreham Harbour in Hove.

But Adur District Council approved plans for the factory, which will see 50 lorries a day pass by the stars' homes.

A report to the committee said about 50 jobs would be created at the plant.
