Showa Denko to Increase Production Capacity of Acetic Acid and Vinyl Acetate.

Tokyo, Japan, Nov 21, 2005 - (JCNN) - Showa Denko has decided to expand the production capacity of acetic acid and vinyl acetate it produces. In line with an upcoming regular maintenance of its Oita Petrochemical Complex in next year, the company will beef up the production facilities there.

Accordingly, Showa Denko will increase the annual production capacity from the current 100,000 tons for acetic acid and 120,000 tons for vinyl acetate to 130,000 tons and 175,000 tons, respectively. Acetic acid and vinyl acetate are used to manufacture synthetic fibers.

With this move, the company aims to meet stable demands for acetic acid and vinyl acetate, and ensure its competitiveness in the ASEAN market.
