Show goes on for fuming star; JON CLEMENTS watches Sienna on the stage at Wyndham's Theatre last night.

Byline: JON CLEMENTS

LOVE no man in good earnest, Sienna Miller declared on stage last night.

If the betrayed fiancee of Jude Law delivered the line with more vehemence than usual it was understandable.

Sienna bravely walked out at Wyndham's Theatre just hours after examining the wreckage of her relationship to Jude Law.

But if the 23-year-old was in turmoil it hardly showed in her accomplished performance. Sienna plays Cecilia in Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It in her first major stage role.

Three weeks ago at this theatre, Jude Law led a standing ovation when she stepped into the lead role of Rosalind after actress Helen McCrory fell ill.

It was perhaps the happiest moment of her fledgling stage career. Last night was certainly the hardest, but she passed the public test of nerve with flying colours.

Some lines raised wry smiles from the audience, not least when Sienna exhorted Orlando to "keep promises in love".

But they showed their appreciation of her performance by giving her the loudest applause on her curtain call.

And her mother Josephine leapt to her feet to give her very own standing ovation - Sienna spotting the gesture, smiling and appearing to blink back tears.
