Show goes Gently after a decade.
INSPECTOR George Gently fans are set to see a satisfying ending for the characters as the period detective drama ends its decade-long run.
The BBC will end the show - starring Martin Shaw and Lee Ingleby as Gently and his sidekick John Bacchus - tonight with a feature-length episode.
The final instalment is set in 1970 as Gently is bowing out of the force and sees him investigate a cold case.
Shaw said: "I think the audience deserve to have a proper ending - like a flourish at the end of a symphony."
It's on BBC1 tonight at 8.30pm.
