Should I give ex my engagement ring back?
Byline: Joan BurnieQ MY fiance and I broke up two weeks before Christmas. It was horrible.
What made it worse was that everyone was sorry for me as we had got engaged the previous Christmas when he proposed in front of my family and my friends.
It was the happiest day of my life. Now I am devastated.
But I was keeping it together until I got a text from him asking me to return the ring as he wanted to give it to his new girlfriend.
I sent him a rude text back, but he emailed me saying if I didn't, he would sue me. I don't want his lousy ring but why should I give it back?
A NO reason. Nor do I think he has a snowball's chance in hell of winning a case against you.
It was a gift. That means you can keep it. Or perhaps you could sell it and treat yourself to something else. I doubt you'd get much pleasure from wearing it anyway.
Mind you I can see a case for returning it and shoving it somewhere the sun don't shine.
But better to find out he's a pig before rather than after any wedding.
