Shotts close gap at top of the table.

SHOTTS 6 - 1 EAST KILBRIDE THISTLE Shotts Bon Accord refuse to give up their title chase as they closed the gap on leaders Gartcairn once again.

John McKeown's men dispatched lowly East Kilbride Thistle at Hannah Park on Saturday to keep up the pressure on top spot, reducing the gap at the top to just five points.

Shotts still have a game in hand to try and pip Gartcairn to the title.

The home side raced into an early lead when Craig Hastings netted after just three minutes.

He bagged his brace just before half-time to give Shotts a healthy lead.

The home side went on to blitz their opponents with Jordan Love, Jordan Craig, Paul McGeough and Andy Scott all adding to the tally.

Dougie Ryan grabbed a late consolation for East Kilbride Thistle with just one minute left to play.

McKeown's men now travel to face Bellshill this Saturday, knowing they will have to pick up maximum points to have any chance of overtaking Gartcairn. Shotts will prove a tough nut to crack though as they still boast the best defence in the league by far, having conceded just 23 goals all season.
