Shot mum 'let down by police' MURDER.

A MOTHER and her son shot dead by her husband were let down by poor policing standards, a review into their deaths said yesterday.

Julia Pemberton, 47, and 17-year-old William were killed at their home five years ago. Her estranged husband Alan, 48, then shot himself.

An independent review found police failed to identify the threat he posed.

The businessman had been banned by a court order from going near the house in Hermitage, Berks, because of threats he made to kill her.

Despite this, police never interviewed Pemberton.

The report said: "On a number of occasions Julia did not receive a competent police response. We believe she was let down by the standards of basic policing."
