Short people 'live longest'.

TALL people are likely to lead shorter lives, it was claimed yesterday.

Australian Professor Arthur Everitt, who has studied the effects of growth hormone on ageing for 50 years, said the hormone was originally seen as an elixir of youth because it reversed some signs of age.

He said: "But there's a price. Tests show life after growth hormone replacement therapy is short."

Scientists discovered 70 years ago that reduced food intake early in life - linked to reduced growth hormone - dramatically extends lives.
