Shopping taken it out of you? Then grab a bite on Bold Street; gemma jaleel on some of the great places to eat after a hard day of retail therapy.

EVERY city has that one place which shows off its spirit. London has Carnaby Street, Manchester has the Northern Quarter - and Liverpool has Bold Street . The city centre thoroughfare is synonymous with great food, amazing independents and beautiful boutiques.

You can't take a stroll down this bustling road without spotting a new bar, cafe or restaurant that you have to try.

So if you're out and about shopping and fance a bite to eat - read on.

The Italian Club/Fish/ Bakery Following the success of The Italian Club (85 Bold Street), owners Rosaria Crolla and her partner Maurizio Pelligrini opened another intimate venue a little bit further down (128 Bold Street) - The Italian Club Fish.

There is also another offshoot, The Italian Club Bakery, just off Bold Street on Newington.

What's on offer? The Italian Club pizza is especially great, and refreshingly authentic, Italian Club Fish is your one-stop shop for the best Italian seafood in the region and the Italian Club Bakery serves up bread, cakes and pastries.

Where? 85 Bold Street, 128 Bold Street and 22 Newington.

Cafe Tabac The Bold Street institution, Cafe Tabac has been around since the 70s.

What's on offer? If you want to get the full Cafe Tabac experience, we suggest you order the full English fry up. They even have a vegetarian option of the classic fry up.

Where? 126 Bold Street. Opening times: 9am to 1am Wednesday to Saturday and 9am to midnight Sunday to Tuesday.

American Pizza Slice launched on Bold Street in January 2011 following the success of its popular takeaway on Whitechapel, it also has abranch on South Road in Waterloo.

What's on offer? It serves up pizzas featuring classic and creative toppings plus beer and cocktails in its newly-opened bar.

Where? 122 Bold Street. Opening times 11am to 11.30pm Monday to Thursday, 11am to 2am Friday to Saturday, 12pm to 11pm.

Soul Cafe This cafe started life as Soul FM radio station and cafe back in 2002. Two years later the radio closed but the cafe remains.

What's on offer? The venue serves up coffee and sandwiches with a side of soul music. The menu also include all-day breakfasts, bagels, baguettes, toasties and paninis to freshly made stews, soups, pasta, chicken, chilli and jacket potatoes.

Where? 114 Bold Street. Opening times: 9am to 7pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 10pm Friday to Saturday, 10am to 8pm Sunday.

East Avenue Bakehouse The independent East Avenue Bakehouse bakes its own bread, imports its own wine and uses seasonal, local produce for its modern British menu.

What's on offer? It is open for breakfast, brunch and lunch with a British roast served from noon on Sundays except the last Sunday of each month when the Slow Food Dinner is held at 6pm.

Where? 112 Bold Street. Opening times: 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday (closed Tuesdays), 9.30am to 5pm Saturday, 9.30am to 6pm Sunday.

Love Thy Neighbour is cafe, coffee shop, organic eatery and bar serving everything from superfood smoothies to lovingly-crafted cocktails.

What's on offer? Love thy Neighbour has a unique menu catering for those who opt for clean living or who love to indulge.

With a non-alcoholic drinks range as well-crafted as the booze offering plus plenty of veggie and vegan options on the menu, alongside meat and fish, you can have whatever you fancy.

Where? 108-110 Bold Street. Opening times: 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 11pm Saturday and Sunday.

Maray has quickly made a name for itself as one of the city's best places to eat, serving a wide menu of dishes with a Middle Eastern and Parisian influence.

What's on offer? The flagship restaurant on Bold Street serves up fresh seasonal produce with a wide drink and cocktails menu plus weekly wine nights to showcase particular vineyards and varieties.

Where? 91 Bold Street. Opening times: Noon to 10pm Sunday to Thursday, noon to 11pm Friday to Saturday.

Bold Street Coffee The team behind this hangout started out as a team of 'nomadic baristas', serving coffee in fields to festival goers across the UK.

The shop has flourished since it opened in 2010 and is home to a growing army of friends and regulars What's on offer? The team work closely with the best roasters to serve up an exceptional cup of coffee and also serve homemade seasonal food.

Where? 89 Bold Street. Opening times: 7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm Saturday, 9.30am to 5pm Sunday.

Nolita Cantina This independent restaurant was born out of the passion of two chefs for traditional homemade American style food.

What's on offer? Nolita Cantina serves up mega burgers, including the Big Boy which features a triple-stacked burger layered with Swiss and jack cheese topped with bacon, hash brown, onion rings and pickles.

Where? 81A Bold Street. Opening times: 3pm to 9pm Monday, noon to 10pm Tuesday to Saturday, 1pm to 9pm Sunday.

Pho Vietnamese restaurant Pho opened its doors in March 2017 and was founded by Brit husband and wife team Stephen and Juliette Wall.

What's on offer? Pho is the Vietnamese national dish, an aromatic, nutritious and delicious rice noodle soup served with a side plate of fresh herbs to add as you please.

The rest of the menu features sharing starters, spicy salads, wok-fried noodles, fragrant curries, Vietnamese beers, a fab wine list, fresh juices and cocktails.

Where? 79 Bold Street.

Opening times: noon to 10pm Monday to Thursday, noon to 10.30pm Friday to Saturday, noon to 10.30pm Sunday.

Miyagi One of Bold Street's most popular restaurants Miyagi , also has venues in Allerton and in Ormskirk. The pan-Asian inspired venue serves soul food to a soul and motown soundtrack.

What's on offer? This restaurant serves authentic Japanese style food with buns, skewers, fried chicken, small plates and ramen with a large range of cocktails to compliment the food.

Where? 77 Bold Street. Opening times: Noon until late every day.

Uncle Sam's is an American-Italian style restaurant and first started out as an American burger bar on London Road in the 1970s. Owner Andy Bichara has been in the restaurant business all this time and has had the Bold Street venue since 2008.

What's on offer? Enjoy the best of American, Italian-American and Tex-Mex cuisine, with big burgers, New York style pizzas and Cajun spiced dishes.

Where? 94 Bold Street. Opening times: 10am to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 11pm Saturday.

Mowgli Bold Street is home to Mowgli Street Food , the first venue opened by barrister-turned-chef Nisha Katona. She also has a second branch on Water Street.

What's on offer? Amazing Indian small plates like you've never tasted before including the famous tiffin boxes which are packed full with fresh, bright, intense flavour.

Where? 69 Bold Street.

Opening times: Noon to 9.30pm, Sunday to Wednesday and noon to 10.30pm, Thursday to Saturday.

Leaf What started as a small tea shop run by friends 10 years ago in Liverpool city centre has developed to the established, much loved tea shop and bar on Bold Street.

What's on offer? If you want the full Leaf experience, we suggest you order a pot of tea, sit back, relax and graze from one of the sharing platters with friends or family. There are Greek mezze, fish and meat sharing platters available.

Where? 65-67 Bold Street.

Opening times: 9am to midnight, Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 2am Friday and Saturday.

Artisane If you fancy a taste of France right here in Liverpool, then head to Artisane for delicious pastries.

What's on offer? A huge selection of sandwiches and the real beauty is that each sandwich is made from specially made Artisane bread plus macaroons, eclairs and crosissants.

Where? 84A Bold Street.

Opening times: 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Tuesday, 8am to 5pm Wednesday, 8am to 6pm Thursday to Friday, 9am to 5pm Saturday and 9am to 2pm Sunday.

Our Kitchen offers quirky veggie and vegan cuisine as well as a juice bar.

What's on offer? An extensive holistic-inspired list of nutrient-rich juices and dairy-free nut mylks with breakfast options like porridge with granola and blueberries and a variety of sandwiches, wraps and paninis plus small plates.

Where? 84B Bold Street. Opening times: 8am to 10pm, Monday to Friday, 9am to 10pm Saturday and 10am to 8pm Sunday.

Maggie Mays Cafe Bar If you're looking for some authentic Liverpool cooking then head to Maggie Mays for a bowl of scouse.

What's on offer? Plenty of home-cooked food and don't miss the Carling Art Gallery on the first floor.

Where? 90 Bold Street. Opening times: 9.45am to 6pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and 9.45am to 7pm Thursday and Friday, closed Sunday.

Koop specialises in the three classics: chicken, burgers and shakes.

What's on offer? Choose from freshly flavoured wings, quarter, half and full rotisserie chicken or try flame-grilled chicken and steak and wash it down with homemade shakes at Koop's shake bar. Where? 74 Bold Street.

Opening times: 11am to 11pm everyday.

Chicha This Peruvian street kitchen serves up traditional ceviche dishes and even has a pisco bar.

What's on offer? Chica serves up small plates with plantain chips and quinoa and avocado salad on the menu. For those with a sweet tooth, try the suspiro limo, that's vanilla and cinammon custard with torched meringue.

Where? 55 Bold Street. Opening times: Noon to 10.30pm every day.

Kasbah The Kasbah restaurant serves up special authentic recipes.

What's on offer? A delicious menu of Morrocan dishes and tagines and exotic drinks including hot and cold mezze dishes, salads, platters and coucous plus the Kasbah grills.

Where? 72 Bold Street.

Opening times: 10am to 10pm Sunday to Thursday, 10am to 11pm Friday and Saturday.

Souk This Mediterranean gastro cafe opened in the former Wang Wang supermarket in July 2017.

What's on offer? Souk is the Arabic word for marketplace and owners want the restaurant's menu to represent just that - with a vast amount of dishes available.

Where? 49 Bold Street.

Opening times: 8am to 10.30pm everyday.

Red Dog Saloon The American-style barbecue restaurant is renowned for its fat ribs, buffalo chicken wings, hickory smoked pulled pork and burgers.

What's on offer? Red Dog Saloon has an extensive selection of cocktails, bottled beers, tequila and bourbon, plus the best meat, flavoured with its special rub and cooked low 'n slow for 18 hours in smokers imported from Oklahoma.

Where? 66 Bold Street.

Opening times: Noon to 11pm Monday to Wednesday, noon to midnight Thursday, Friday, 10am to midnight Saturday, 10am to 10.30pm Sunday.

Wok & Go If you're looking some some quick and easy Asian cuisine, you can Wok and Go.

What's on offer? Create your own box with wok-tossed Asian vegetables with noodles or rice with the meat or sauce of your choice.

Where? 64 Bold Street.

Opening times 11am to 10.30pm Monday to Tuesday, 11am to 11pm Wednesday to Saturday, noon to 10.30pm Sunday.

Pancho's Burritos was started on the streets of Mexico City in 2006 by Mexican chef Enrique Martinez who decided to bring the taste of Mexico to England.

What's on offer? Authentic Mexican street food including burritos, tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, enchiladas, nachos and chilli. Where? 46 Bold Street Opening times: Noon to 10.30pm Sunday to Wednesday, noon to midnight Thursday to Saturday.
