Shoppers' world: Dubai.

Summary: Even though the city is known for its shopping festivals and souks, the grandeur of its malls always leaves me in awe.

Even though the city is known for its shopping festivals and souks, the grandeur of its malls always leaves me in awe. From cafes to dancing fountains, and massive indoor aquariums, there is a lot to these malls than just the shops. So while in Dubai, as I made my way around, it made me realise that there is an added advantage when you are shopping here: given the thirst for the latest trends, the malls cater beautifully for ones appetite for fashion.

Souk Al Bahar

Down Town Dubai--Dubai--UAE

Beautiful palms and arches mark this popular mall. While on one hand you have the cafes located along the water front, on the other it has some of the top jewellery and fashion brands. The souvenir shops in the mall are what interest me the most, given their intricacy and variety. So a visit to the Camel Shop and the Spirit of Art Gallery is a must-do.

Mall of Emirates

Al Barsha 1--Dubai--UAE

The fact that UAE is a land of Sheikhs is best depicted by its malls. There are two things that I would suggest to you. One, visit the stores for Arabic fashion which feature beautiful designer kaftans that you can't resist buying. The other, the ski ring--which maintains sub zero temperatures. So be prepared for the cold and do carry a pullover.

Dubai Festival City Mall

Near Dubai International Airport

Even though cliched, like Delhi malls, it cannot be missed as it is the epicentre of Dubai Festival City. Though you will find stores such as Ikea, Marks & Spencers among many others and their events and exhibitions cannot be missed. The mall also has Hard Rock Dubai and I would also suggest you to dine at Cafe Bateel.

Dubai Marina Mall

Sheikh Zayed Road--Dubai--UAE

Now here's something more to add to the shopping experience. The mall houses a mix of top brands, high street fashion brands as well as boutique fashion. But that one thing that cannot be missed, is the al fresco waterfront dining options. I recommend a meal at Shakespeare and Co, for its food and also for the restaurant's interiors.

Dubai Mall

Financial Center Road, Near Souk Al Bahar Bridge, Down Town Dubai--UAE

It is one of the biggest malls in the world that caters for everything from top international fashion brands to food, and specially Baklava. If you or your children have a sweet tooth, it has a candy store--Candylicious that has any candy flavour that you could imagine. To take the experience to another level, the mall has an aquarium and dancing fountains that make you want to spend the entire day there.
