Shoplift rap McGovern cousin free.
A COUSIN of slain crime clan member Tony McGovern who was charged with shoplifting walked free from court yesterday.
Jean McGovern, 47, pled not guilty to charges relating to incidents at Monsoon and JJB Sports in Stirling.
Her co-accused Roberta Burke, 50, and Thomas Shearer, 34, pled guilty to stealing 18 items, including dresses, tops and tunics, worth a total of PS1920 from Monsoon on July 24, 2011.
Stirling sheriff William Gilchrist deferred sentence until November 28.
Annette Daniel, 51, the sister of crime clan boss Jamie Daniel, was jailed for six months in 2011 over the incident.
Prosecutor Dana Forbes yesterday accepted all of McGovern's not guilty pleas.
She also accepted Burke and Shearer's not guilty pleas to shoplifting at JJB Sports and attempted shoplifting at River Island in Stirling on the same day.
Burke, Shearer and McGovern, all of Glasgow, left court together.
McGovern's drug-dealing cousin Tony was shot dead in 2000 following a feud with Jamie "Iceman" Stevenson.
