Shooting star gets bogged down.

THE LAST FIVE YEARS 92min 12A IF THERE'S one actress whose star is very much on the rise, it's Anna Kendrick. After small parts in the Twilight series, she got everyone's attention in the comedy Pitch Perfect and for playing Cinderella in Into The Woods.

We can but hope her latest film, based on an off-Broadway musical, is a mere road hump on her journey to the top of the Hollywood A-list.

The story centres on the rocky relationship between Cathy, an aspiring actress and husband Jamie (Jeremy Jordan), a successful novelist.

Sadly, their characters aren't fleshed out - it doesn't help that there's almost no dialogue - and their dramas are stupendously dull. Five years? It feels like 50.
