Shock at death of woman soldier.

Byline: Susan Lee

I DON'T know why I should be some how more shocked at the death of intelligence officer Sarah Bryant in Afghanistan but I am.

After all, women have been serving their country for decades and from the early 1990s have been fully integrated into the armed forces.

I suppose I can relate to the faces of all those fallen young men as a mum. They look so young, so boyish.

But I can relate to Sarah as a woman.

The picture of her as a bride will resonate with women everywhere.

She looked radiant and beautiful.

The only consolation her proud family can take is that she died doing a job she loved and in which she believed.
