Shoaib Mir - End of a Veteran.

Pakistan lost a respected advertising veteran when Shoaib Mir died on May 21 in Lahore. The late Mir had seen advertising from pretty close and had practised it with complete diligence all his life. A man well-versed in writing for print and TV advertisings, Mir was the brain behind many high impact campaigns.

However, Shoaib Mir was not just a copywriter who did his job and went home. He would be involved with the marketing aspects of the ads and campaigns he worked on and discussed threadbare the implications of the slogans and body text that he developed - with his own creative team, the client service people and even with the clients.

Among the many blue chip brands that he worked on were Nestle Milkpak, Nescafe, ICI Deluxe, Berger Robbialac, Coca-Cola, Maggi, Kit Kat, Tullo, Capri, Rose Petal , etc.

In his 25 years in advertising, Mir worked for Prestige Communications, Scan Communications, Blazon, Manhattan Leo Burnett, Orient McCann, Orient Advertising, Lowe and Rauf (Lahore), Midas and R-Lintas. He graduated from the University of Punjab and started his career with Prestige, Karachi in the early 70s.

Shoaib was a visiting faculty at the Beaconhouse National University (BNU). He also provided his services as a communications consultant and creative writer.
