Shiva Eases ISDN Line Provisioning for VARs and Customers

Provision Plus Eliminates Complexity of ISDN BRI and PRI Implementation
for Corporations, Small Business and Home Office Users

BEDFORD, Mass., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Shiva Corporation (Nasdaq: SHVA) today announced Provision Plus(TM), an ISDN line provisioning service for its VARs and customers designed to further simplify the process of implementing Shiva ISDN remote access solutions. Shiva can now provision, deploy and maintain BRI (Basic Rate Interface) and PRI (Primary Rate Interface) ISDN lines for its customers. Instead of going through their local RBOCs, customers and VARs go directly to Shiva to order the ISDN lines for their Shiva remote access equipment. Shiva facilitates the ordering process and provides all technical information necessary to get the line set up. This service enhances Shiva's offerings which deliver end-to-end solutions for its customers and VARs.

"Provision Plus was designed to eliminate the headaches associated with implementing ISDN solutions," said Richard Lanchantin, vice president of worldwide customer support at Shiva. "With Provision Plus, the burden is removed from the customer or VAR while Shiva interfaces with the RBOC, getting the line ordered and properly configured in much less time and with less hassle."

Through this new offering, Shiva customers and VARs can gain BRI line provisioning for the LanRover/Plus(R) multiprotocol, multi-platform remote access server, or the Shiva AccessPort(TM) ISDN client router which is ideal for connecting the small office and home office to corporate networks, the Internet and online services. PRI line provisioning is available for the Shiva LanRover Access Switch(TM) large-scale central site analog and ISDN remote access platform designed to complement the Shiva AccessPort. Together, these products and services deliver a complete, seamless remote networking solution.

When Shiva users call the Shiva Provisioning Center, an engineer will determine their specific ISDN requirements and provide them with a quote for the installation and maintenance of the ISDN lines. Shiva representatives coordinate the entire installation with the appropriate RBOC at each site, including the ordering and provisioning of the BRI and PRI lines. Shiva's own resources and its direct link to the RBOCs save customers and VARs time and effort and allow them to focus on their primary business objectives.

Summary of Services

The Shiva Provisioning center offers assistance in the following areas:

-- Loop Qualification lets a customer or VAR know whether or not ISDN is available in the area in question. A quote specific to the customer's point of demarcation will be given for installation and maintenance prices, depending on the scope of the job.

-- BRI Provisioning initiates the BRI line order for a customer's home or office. Shiva will test the line and ensure that it is provisioned correctly. A 30-day warranty is offered on this service.

-- PRI and T-1 Provisioning initiates the PRI and/or T-1 line order for a customer's office. Shiva will test the lines and ensure that they are provisioned correctly. A 30-day warranty is also offered on this service.
