Shipping activity at Port Qasim.

KARACHI -- Shipping activity remained brisk at the Port where five ships, C.V MSC Rita, C.V MSC Mykonos, C.v jazan, M.T Uncoiln Pak and M and gt;T Silver Manoora carrying containers, chemicals and palm oil were arranged berthing at Qasim International Container Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respoctively on Monday.

Meanwhile four more ships C.V MSC Alvany, Maine Ehime, Sovereign and Lumphini Park with Containers, Steel Coll, Diesel Oil and phosphoric Acid also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occuparcy was observed at the Port at 69% on Monday where a total of eleven ships namely, MSC Rita, MSC Mykonos, Jazan, African Falcon, MR Arcturus, Rul Ning-2, Doric Victory, Good Hope Max, Lincolin Park, Silver Manoora and Maren Gas Asciepius are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, crude oil, coal, soya bean, chemicals, paim oil and LNG respectively during last 24 hours.

Cargo hendling registered an upward trend at the Port where a cargo volume of 157,701 tonnes, comprising 119,322 tonnes import cargo and 36,379 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,898 containers TEUs,(2,076 imports TUEs and 822 TUEs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.

Three ships MSC Rita, MR Arcturus and Maran Gas Asclepius sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships MSC Mykons, Jazan and New Ark are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Four ships C.V New Ark, C.v MSC Albany, C.V Maersk Columbus and M T Lion-M carrying containers and furnace oil are expected to take berths at QICT and FOTCO respectively on Tuesday (May 23).
