Shipping activity at Port Qasim.
KARACHI -- Two Ships Mehuin and Lion-M carrying Containers and Furnace oil took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
In the meantime another containers ship San Francis also got anchored at outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
Berth occupancy was maintained at the port at 47% on Thursday where a total of seven berths were engaged by ships namely C.V Mehuin, C.V Northern Jamboree, M.V Fast, M.V Tai Progress, M.T Bochem Singapore, Maran Gaztroy and M.T Lion-M to load/offload containers, coal, soya bean seeds, chemicals, LNG and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 115,655 tonnes, comprising 88,675 tonnes import cargo and 26,980 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,260 containers (TEUs)(840 imports TUEs and 1,420 TUEs exports) was handled t the port during last 24 hours.
Four ships C.V Mehuin, M.T Bochem Singapore, M.T Maran Gaztroy and M.T Truk Gaz are expected to sail on Friday afternoon.
Four ships San Francisca, Globe Tanya, Tomson Gas and Prosperity carrying containers, LPG and palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal, SSGC Terminal, Engro Terminal and Liquid Terminal respectively on Friday, while General Cargo carrier Rown-3 is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and four more ships MSC Texas, Nicoline Maersk, Yangze-6 and E.R. Bilboo with containers and coal are to due arrive on Saturday, and HS Chopin is due to arrive on Sunday.
