Shipping activity at Port Qasim.

KARACHI, September 27, 2011 (Frontier Star): Shipping activity remained active at the port where three ships scheduled to load/offload containers were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal on Sunday, September 25.Meanwhile three more ships carrying containers and furnace oil also arrived at outer anchorage of port Qasim during the same day. Berth occupancy was maintained at the Port at 54% on Sunday where a total of six ships namely ACX Rafflesia, Maersk Utah, Else Trader, M.V Orient III, M.V Vina Line Sky and Analipsl Lady were occupied PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours. Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 43,005 tonnes, comprising 29,000 tonnes import cargo and 13,005 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1,067 containers (Boxes) was handled at the Port. Three container ships Maersk Utah, ACX Rafflesia and Else Trader sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while Diesel Oil Vessel, M.V Analipsl Lady has to sail later today.
