Shibli for more parliamentary activities between Pakistan, Cuba.
ISLAMABAD -- Ambassador Republic of Cuba, Gabriel Tiel Capote Wednesday met the Leader of the House in Senate, Senator Syed Shibli Faraz and exchanged views over the relationship and mutual friendship between the two countries.
Shibli said he wished to see more parliamentary activities between the two countries so that exchange of ideas and partnerships are encouraged, a press release said.
He stressed the need for the formation of friendship groups on both side.
Gabriel spoke of the most recent sanctions imposed by the United States (US) on the Republic of Cuba.
He said these are the strictest of its kind and would adversely affect the lives of the Cuban people.
He urged Pakistan to show support towards Cuba against these.
Discussing the Cuban economy and the issues it currently faces, the ambassador said if credit lines are extended for a year, it would help enhance trade between the two countries.
He showed complete support for parliamentary exchanges and said cultural exchange programs must be encouraged between the two countries as well.
