Sheppard edges Hurter for top spot.

FORMER lady captain Danielle Sheppard narrowly clinched first place in the annual AXA Insurance Members' Golf Day at the Royal Golf Club.

Danielle won with a score of 38 points, just pushing fellow lady member Tatyana Hurter into second place on count back.

Kevin Ross came a close third with 37 points.

Ross picked up a second prize for coming nearest the pin on the seventh hole.

Additional side contests were won by Murray Brown, Todd Gillespie and Patrick Leslie for coming closest to the pin on holes two, 12 and 16, respectively.

Eighty golfers turned out to compete in the highly popular individual stableford tournament, which was organised by AXA country manager and Royal Golf Club vice-captain Steve Wagstaff.

In addition to sponsoring the prizes for the tournament, AXA Insurance also provided goodie bags for each competitor as well as food and beverages throughout the day.
