Sheppard Pratt Health System Names New Trustee.

Baltimore, MD, January 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Sheppard Pratt Health System is pleased to announce the addition of Penelope “Penny” Cordish to its 28 member Board of Trustees. Cordish, presently a part-time teacher at Goucher College with a specialty in twentieth century British and American literature, has been a member of the college's English Department since 1976, serving as both chair of the faculty and chair of the department during her tenure. Cordish has also been seen dedicating her time to the boards for Center Stage and the Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Baltimore Museum of Art.

“Penny joins the Sheppard Pratt Foundation's Board of Trustees with nearly 40 years teaching experience in the university setting,” said Dr. Steven S. Sharfstein, president and chief executive officer of Sheppard Pratt. “We are delighted to welcome Penny to the Board of Trustees, and are looking forward to her contributions as we continue ensuring a promising future for Sheppard Pratt Health System.”

A Cincinnati, Ohio, native, Cordish received her undergraduate degree from Goucher College, Phi Beta Kappa, and was a Woodrow Wilson Graduate Intern at Morgan State University. She went on to receive a M.A. in English Literature from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University before beginning her teaching career at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
