Shell's search for Mr Fright.

Big Brother lovebirds, Michelle Bass and Stuart Wilson, got into the spirit of things after hooking up with a Tyneside ghost-hunting team for a spooky night out.

The pair were enjoying a romantic weekend break in a Blackpool hotel when they stumbled across Dean Maynard and his team of paranormal investigators.

And, never a couple to turn down a challenge they decided to join the gang tracking down resident spook Cloggy ( the mysterious former ride-owner said to haunt the Pleasure Beach ghost train.

Dean, 32, of Prudhoe, Northumberland, said he was amazed when he bumped into Michelle and Stuart in the hotel bar.

He said: "We just got chatting about what we were doing down in Blackpool and I asked if they wanted to come and join us.

"I never thought they would agree. But as we were about to leave they turned up with torches and said they would love to come.

"My team was asked to spend a night in the ghost-train, supposed to be haunted by a former ride operator nicknamed Cloggy because he used to wear clogs for work. People are said to hear his footsteps on the ride.

"Michelle and Stuart got really into it. They helped us set up our equipment and took Electro Magnetic Field readings.

"I think Michelle was terrified for most of it and kept jumping at the slightest noises but they were good fun and down to earth."

The team, nicknamed Team Maynard, spent four hours at the ghost-train and although they didn't hear Cloggy they were spooked by the sound of a generator starting and a door opening of its own accord. Dean added: "Stuart had been pretty laid back until then but when the emergency door suddenly banged open he really got a fright. I think it freaked him out a bit."

But the creepy night out didn't dampen Michelle and Stu's passion for each other. Dean said: "Whenever we saw them at the hotel they were always together, always kissing and cuddling and they seemed to be very much in love.

"They seemed happy with each other and were brilliant sports about the whole thing. They made the evening far more enjoyable."
