Sheer perfection; DMEEIR SATURDAY 23.12.2017 IRISH DAILY MIRROR 25 3am@mirror.co.uk am WEEKEND with ASHLEIGH RAINBIRD.

Byline: with ASHLEIGH RAINBIRD

Ed Sheeran has beaten, well, himself, to become this year's Christmas No 1. His song Perfect was the most played and downloaded track (including six million streams this week alone!) and Eminem's River - which Sheeran also appears on - was the runner-up at No 2. Ed said: "This is an actual dream come true and I'm very proud and happy."

Wham!'s Last Christmas hit a high of No 3 and marks almost a year since George Michael died on December 25, 2016.

Everyone's favourite seasonal song, Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas is You is at No 4 and Rita Ora finished in fifth place with her track Anywhere.

In one picture, Myleene Klass has managed to sum up how we, as a nation, feel on December 23.

"Tired and emotional," I believe the phrase is.

And there are still two more days of celebrating to go
