Shaya to show his class for Bravery; IN FRANCE TODAY.

Shaya can gain just reward for a string of good efforts in lofty company this season by landing the Prix Carrousel (Listed) for Giles Bravery and Tim Sprake at Maisons-Laffitte today, writes Desmond Stoneham.

Bought out of Marcus Tregoning's yard for just 5,500gns last October, Shaya has belied that price tag with placed efforts in the John Porter Stakes and the Sagaro Stakes.

Last time out he was far from disgraced when a never-nearer seventh to Enzeli in the Ascot Gold Cup.

All three of his French opponents ran in the Prix La Moskowa over this one-mile-and-seven-furlong trip at Chantilly last month. They meet on the same terms and Turbotiere, who finished second, a length and a half in front of Kashwan with All Heigh just over half a length further back in sixth, should confirm those placings.

Simon Dow's Shining Dancer looks likely to be outclassed, having been out of the first two in all her six attempts in modest company this year.

But even the Ff12,000 (pounds 1,291) prize for last place should cover the travel costs for her connections.
