Sharks fail to convert; Shots piled up in trip's finale.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Worcester outshot Syracuse nearly 2-1, but the Sharks finished their four-game road trip 1-3 after a 4-2 loss to the Crunch last night at the Onondaga County War Memorial.

Tim Kennedy and Brian O'Hanley scored for Worcester, which had more fights (3) than goals.

Tyson Sexsmith made 22 saves for the Sharks, while Iiro Tarkki made 42 stops for the Crunch.

Kyle Palmieri had two goals for Syracuse, while Worcester went 1 for 7 on the power play.

The Sharks return home Friday when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:30 p.m.

Worcester took the first seven shots, but the Crunch scored twice in the first period - John Mitchell unassisted at 17:57 and Palmieri on a terrific rush and finish at 18:31.

The Sharks pulled even with two quick goals in the second period. With Worcester on the power play, Kennedy knocked in a loose rebound 37 seconds in, followed by O'Hanley's first goal as a Shark at 1:27.

The second period also featured two fights. The Sharks' Nathan Moon dropped the gloves with Troy Bodie at 7:01 after Bodie sent Taylor Doherty flying with a knee check. Worcester's Mike Moore then fought J.F. Jacques at the end of the period, which led to a two-man advantage for the Sharks.

But Worcester failed to convert on a five-on-three power play to begin the third period, and Syracuse took the lead on Andrew Gordon's wraparound goal at 6:36.

Palmieri provided the insurance goal for the Crunch.
